How Airbnb became a $25Billion company

Started in 2008 as airbedandbreakfast.com

Brian Chesky + Joe Gebbia + Nathan Blecharczyk

Trained to raise money in 2008 and got rejected over and over again.

Sold breakfast cereal to help get their initial funding taking advatnage of the election. Sold Obama O’s and Cap’n McCain which generated $30,000.

Got noticed by Paul Graham at Y Combinator and received $20,000 in 2009.

Business wasn’t working because photos were crap so they went door to door to take better photos for the site.

Revenues doubled based on better photos

Sequoia Capital invested $600,000 in April 2009. Since then their valuation and their growth has continue to climb exponentially.
