Qian Cheng , Alibaba Group
Wei Meng (internal alias: Qian Cheng), joined Alibaba group in 2009, has overseen a series of core initiatives for Alibaba’s e-commerce platforms Tmall and Taobao. She has accumulated a wealth of experience in the Ecommerce industry, serving as a key enabler for the development of Tmall and Taobao. Recognized for her extensive experience in product management and operations, Wei was appointed as the general manager of Taobao Global (TBG).
Taobao Global, an online platform for consumers to purchase overseas products, was founded by Taobao in 2007, as customer demand for international goods soared. Under Wei’s leadership, Taobao Global identified three major strategic focuses for business development: The Taobao Global buyer program, SMEs incubation, and customer management. She believes in using innovation to scale up the business systematically. Her vision has boosted awareness for Taobao Global, among consumers who enjoy shopping for international products — and at the same time, fulfilling hundreds of millions of personalized consumer’s demands. She has received high acclaim from both from the industry and the platform’s users.
Moreover, Wei currently is also the general manager of Mobile Taobao’s homepage and the mother&child, Beauty & Health category at Taobao. Taobao is committed to becoming a bridge between Chinese consumers, merchants and international brands, strengthened by innovation and effective business models. Wei is an avid explorer and innovator. Her efforts in leveraging Mobile Taobao’s homepage to accurately connect Taobao Global with its potential users — and pushing to lower the barriers for innovation for creators and entrepreneurs on the platform — has helped to enable merchants and brands, as well as better meet personalized demands for consumers.
