Lulu Yilun Chen is a business reporter with Bloomberg in Hong Kong, covering the technology beat.
Previously she was a banking reporter with the South China Morning Post. She wrote stories about local government bad debt, IPO and rights issues, RMB internationalization, wealth management and China’s interest rate liberalization and financial reforms. Chen also covered macro-economic trends on mainland China, Hong Kong and other emerging markets in Asia, including monetary policies and regulatory compliances.
Chen has broken stories about Bank of America’s share divestment in a top mainland bank, HSBC and UBS bank layoffs, and various IPOs. Her feature stories span across underground hot money flows, land rights and investor protection issues. She was a co-winner of 2011 SOPA awards for Excellence in Business Reporting and State Street 2012 Institutional Press Awards Best New Comer.
Educated in Beijing and the U.S., Chen graduated with honors from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has also worked for multimedia platforms, including CNN Money in New York, APTN and CCTV in Beijing.
