Janet Scardino , Comic Relief
Janet Scardino serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Saban Brands, an affiliate of Saban Capital Group. Scardino oversees Saban Brands television, digital media operations and games, international distribution and ad sales across all properties globally. She works closely with her counterparts in the executive office to manage the continued growth and expansion of the company’s business units.
Scardino joined Saban Brands with significant experience in building successful television, online and mobile businesses with the world’s most important media companies including Disney, MTV: Music Television, AOL, Reuters and American Idol. Most recently, she served as CEO of the public company Viggle, the first digital loyalty program for television. There, she spearheaded the development of the brand’s award-winning, second-screen mobile experience and technology platform.
Previously, Scardino held senior posts at various television and digital media companies. Under her leadership as Global Head of Marketing at Reuters, traffic to the organization’s digital properties tripled. As President and CMO of The Knot, which also operates The Nest and The Bump, she led the life-stage media company to achieve its highest level of membership for its bridal, first-home and first-baby audiences. As AOL’s SVP of International Marketing, Scardino oversaw acquisition and brand marketing across 16 countries. Before AOL, she was Managing Director of the Disney Channel in Italy, based in Milan, where she launched and operated the premium pay channel, and oversaw all aspects of the children’s television, online and mobile business.
Scardino began her career at MTV, where over 10 years she held positions in Marketing Programming, and Production, including VP of International Marketing. She spearheaded the launches of seven channels including MTV Asia, MTV Latin America and MTV Japan—expanding MTV’s reach into over 100 million new homes.
